Lawrence Washington has been a prominent figure in the tennis world for over 25 years. An internationally recognized tennis professional, he was a standout player at Tennessee State University in Nashville, Tennessee, and later competed on the ITF Professional Circuit. Lawrence is a USPTR-certified Tennis Professional specializing in Adult Development and has coached numerous Division I tennis players, Top 100 USTA junior players, and WTA Tour competitors. Additionally, he has served as a hitting partner for Top 50 WTA Tour players.

Previously, Lawrence was the Volunteer Assistant Tennis Coach at Howard University and served as Executive Director of the non-profit organization Tennis on the Hill. In a volunteer capacity, he is an active member of the USTA National Leadership team, where he focuses on enhancing efficiency, effectiveness, engagement, and overall experience for the USTA ecosystem. He plays a key role in strategic initiatives aimed at growing American tennis participation to 35 million players by 2035. Lawrence has also consulted for private organizations, clubs, governments, and international tennis entities to expand the sport’s reach. A dedicated philanthropist, he serves on the Board of Directors for organizations such as the Metropolitan Tennis and Education Group (MTEG) and the Junior Tennis Champions Center (JTCC).

Beyond tennis, Lawrence is deeply engaged in real estate and finance. He has worked at esteemed financial institutions, including the NASDAQ Stock Exchange, and has played a pivotal role in developing and refining mortgage products to create liquidity and housing supply across the country.

Lawrence graduated summa cum laude from Tennessee State University with a B.S. in Political Science and earned a Master’s Degree in Real Estate Finance from Georgetown University. He also holds an Executive Leadership Certification from Cornell University and an MBA from Johns Hopkins University. Recognized for his professional achievements, he was named one of Washington, D.C.'s Top 30 Under 30 young professionals in 2014 and, more recently, Top 40 Under Forty by The Network Journal for Business Professionals & Executives nationwide. His contributions to both the housing and tennis industries have been highlighted by numerous media outlets.
